The BIOS update did not fix the problem after all. It’s just a matter of putting the onus on the customer vs. Sadly, a month and a half after this started, the WIFI disappeared. And it’s frustrating when they tell you it’s not a common issue, then release a hotfix for it. When it was ON again, I was able to connect to my Wireless Ubuntu Community should be very proud and lucky to have someone with your skills around. But you’re right, it would be nice if business models could fit this level of “care” into it. I had same issues, but just let it slide because i didnt use the wifi very much, but now the hwole computer is dead, and I have read elsewhere that that is the progression, from dead wifi to dead computer.

After contacting HP once, they ran me through a series of SoftPak installations. But I guess its a trade off for lower costs these days.

[SOLVED] HP-Pavilion-TX – Broadcom BCM – Wireless not working

I have not had any trouble since. Good luck, if I have any further developments I will post a note. A new card does fix it and sometimes software will too. The solution I use gets the machine back into service and it stays in service. All I have is the HP driver update they recommend which is 4. Has anyone come across this issue? Share Vroadcom Page Tweet. We even tried an XP install on a new drive with no luck.

HP recalled other models with the same issues but are saying this model is not affected. The BIOS update did not fix the problem after all.

What do you mean when you say it is not showing up any more often than other models? Unfortunately, I too am plagued with the disappearing wireless card issue. We no longer do anything but use the WPNT or other solution.

I am kind of worried because there is not a concrete solution for others models of HP and I unfortunately think that it won’t be for this one. Two things worked – One slightly the other permanently The first thing that worked was removing all power and holiding off button for 2 mins – on restarting – the system said new hard ware found installing broadcom drivers. Download the driver via the following link: The wireless adapter is present. Actually, you might prevent this problem not exactly sure though by reducing the performance you want from the nvidia when plugged in and going for more power saving for that.

It seems as if an option in the BIOS is set to disable the WLAN card, so after the initial boot up, that piece of hardware is no longer present to any software. I bought a replacement At present it seems like the only remedy is replacing the motherboard, but HP has yet to make an official recall or warranty brladcom as they have done with their other machines exhibiting these problems, so if you do experience any similar problems with your tx or not tx please report it to HP. Broadcom wireless device disappeared

Sorry, we see no wireless device at all. Broadcom card suddenly missing intermittently. Ask Ubuntu works best with JavaScript enabled.

So far, so good.
